Currently, there is no way to change the defaults. The file mask 
dialog options are not persistent.

We really need a way to do that...

OK, I am wrong about this one. The original reporter wanted us to make a persistent option for "Preserve attributes" in the options dialog. I was confused by the patches attached to this ticket which have nothing to do with this request (but rather with PA autodetection).

It's a more general request and not vfs-specific.
